It has been quite awhile since my last photoshoot. I am going to start off with the cheapest PVC figure that I bought during my vacation, Kotobukiya’s Flonne.
The price I paid for this figure in Japan, 1000 yen. However, it was second hand, then again, 1000yen (~$12CDN)! Surprisingly I was hesitant and decided to think about it overnight. You are hearing this from a guy who constantly blew out 2000yen for a single trip to a maid cafe. What can you get for $12 here in Canada? 1 trading figure… Wait, perhaps not because of tax. Oh how I miss the days in Asia with no tax and tips.
Besides from the price and the cuteness of the character, I can guarantee that I don’t know anything about Flonne’s character. I do know she is from an rpg game called Disgaea. Whoa, an rpg game? Then obviously I won’t know anything. *If you know me, I rarely play rpgs
The painting is sharp and clean from Kotobukiya, which I believe is a good company that sets the borderline of quality figures. Nonetheless, Kotobukiya does deliver quality figures, but fails with ones with extreme detailing.
The molding is clean over the body and limbs, however seam lines are apparent on the hair. These only appear from the attachment of hair pieces.
The details of the textures on the frills are nicely sculpted and painted. Say if the original character had coloured patterns on her frills, I can guarantee that Kotobukiya would definitely produce an outcome with poor painting.
Judging from the pictures from google, the representation looks fantastic. From the pose to the facial expression, everything fits together to create a cute character in Flonne.
The wand looks great as an addition. The use of glossy purple paint allows greater attention, posing for a much more vibrant figure, but not farfetched to distract the eyes.
What questions me is the pose of her right hand. When you are posing, would you have your middle and index finger together? I struggle doing so. Is it some kind of gang sign or just a characteristic of Flonne?
I used a sheet of those soft white packing material as the background instead of a plain white sheet of paper. I noticed that it looks sparkly so might look interesting in a photoshoot. As a result, I am not impressed by my performance. I have been repetitively mentioning this, but I really need to stick away from white background for my photoshoots.

11000 yen for a decent figure - that’s a steal! ^^;;
Flonne looks cute but she could finished better IMO.
