  • Day 4: Harajuku and Shibuya

    August 12, 2009

    Posted in: Japan, Vacation

So far this is the best day except for 4 things (I am being picky): 1) I got ripped off 100yen from my dinner.  I could have paid for like 2/3 of a drink.  2) My back aches from buying too many stuff  3) I need to cut down my muscles 4) I am  a magnet for Black people.

    081209

I left for Harajuku at 8am.

    081209 (1)

    Harajuku Station

    081209 (2)081209 (3)

First stop is the famous and big Meiji Shrine.  And for the people who says I need to take more pictures of myself, here is about all the pictures I took with myself.  Got my fellow countryman (Taiwan, not Canada) to help me take the picture.

    081209 (4)

Long ass walk to the shrine.

    081209 (5)081209 (6)081209 (7)

    Finally, the shrine.

    081209 (9)

The Shrine and I.  Oh! Here is another picture of me.  Now I guarantee you that I don’t have any more pictures with me in them.

    081209 (10)081209 (11)081209 (12)081209 (13)

    Next stop is Harajuku shopping.

    081209 (14)

The most popular street.  It is empty right now at 10am.  Trust me, it gets far worst than this.

    081209 (15)

    This store is like Dollarama.

    081209 (16)081209 (17)081209 (18)

Ok.  Why do ALL the Black guys that own clothing stores ALWAYS scout me out from a group of people. Both Harajuku and Shibuya.  Do I have a sign?  Actually I do.  I shouldn’t have worn my Affliction shirt.  That is a perfect Gaijin(foreigner) indicator.

    081209 (19)081209 (20)

    Line-up

    081209 (21)

    081209 (22)

While walking through the streets of Harakuju, I couldn’t resist myself and had to shop for clothes.  I bet when I come back, I will not look like a CBC (Chinese born Canadian).

    081209 (23)081209 (24)

There is always a HUGE line up for this store.

    081209 (25)081209 (26)

Damn Japanese sizes.  They are too small.  I need to lose my muscles now.  I bought two shirts at Size M and L.  Both shirts fits me like right on.  I can kinda feel the tightness, but it JUST fits.  Now I look like a White jock that wears a shirt that is XXXS.

    081209 (27)

Kiddy Land.  It is similar to the Toy Park in Ginza.

    081209 (28)

    1:1 scale of Rei.
    081209 (29)

    Oriental Bazaar.

    081209 (30)

Free RedBull.  I got myself one, and it doesn’t taste bad at all from what others told me.  It tastes “normally” like any other drink.

    081209 (31)

You will see girls as lolitas…

    081209 (32)

… and then girls as goths.

    081209 (33)

Zara building.  I know who would love to visit here…

    081209 (34)

Now, this is PACKED.  From now, I am leaving Harajuku to head to Shibuya.

    081209 (35)081209 (36)081209 (37)

In between, the first stop I made was the Tepco Energy Building.

    081209 (38)081209 (39)

Mandarake. Good place to find second hand otaku items.

    081209 (40)081209 (41)081209 (42)081209 (43)081209 (44)081209 (45)081209 (46)

Parco Part 1 and 2.  It is a shopping mall.

    081209 (47)081209 (48)

    The Spain Route.

    081209 (49)

An arcade.  Many different stuff to do such as, UFO catchers, those snap shot booths, arcade games, slot machines, gambling.

    081209 (50)

They even have a horse race track game.

Overall, Harajuku is a lot smaller than I expected.  Shibuya is a lot bigger and complicated than I expected.

I might return to Harajuku again before I leave.  Want to buy more clothes! I need to lose weight now!  I would exchange for a bigger size, but those were the only size.

Ask the girls to pose for you! Don’t be so stalkerish and take pictures from their behind/sides/etc.

@Evy: Yes, that store is like a snack store. Today I was in Akihabara with friend and friend’s friends. We were planning to go to maid cafe, but we ran out of time.

@Lily: Things are about the same price. Overall, Tokyo prices are a bit higher than Toronto, but not that significant.

@Dan: I don’t have time to ask people. It is way too hot and I am tired from walking.
