What I hate about buying games from EB Games is the stupid price sticker they stick on the cover of the game. I even hate how they always gut their games, even new copies. Meaning that they take the games out and store them into CD sleeves. Funny thing is that I haven’t supported any developers for the PS3 since I get all my games used or off eBay.
Nonetheless, I am a collector and I still want my games to look just as new. Over time from buying pre-owned games from EB, I have slowly found a better way to take off the sticker without damaging the case. Today’s demonstration will be on BioShock. I recently bought this game from a local classifieds ad for $20. Don’t let the sticker fool you. No way I paid $39.99 when the retail price of the game is now $29.99. I also just finished this game. I got to say that this is such an awesome game. I heard a rumour that it will be for $10 next week for EB daily door crasher sale. I will be so sad when I could have waited for a couple more days to get it for half the price I bought it for. Also, I need to upgrade my PS3 HDD soon.
For this demonstration, I used my nendoroids to guide you through. If they can do it, so can you! That sounded so cheesy. Credits to fellow comrade Kodomut for being creative with nendoroids. You should check them out.
Ugly EB stickers make Pastel Ink and Saber Lion cry! How dare they!!
Unfortunately there is another sticker on the back side. *Saber Lion faints*
Firstly, strip the case clean.
Take a thicker piece of paper and place it under the cover. This prevents stretching of the plastic sleeve when cleaning or peeling of the sticker.
Gently use your nails and SLOWLY remove the sticker off. Try to use all four corners to get rid of the yellow parts.
Now you need is baby oil.
Pour it over the surface of the sticker and let it soak for a LONG couple seconds.
*oh crap* I accidentally deleted a picture here. Anyways, then take a tissue and wipe it off. Do this couple of times and all the residue will be gone. You can use your nails to scratch off remaining pieces. Also, this image was suppose to show you how Saber recovered.
Everyone rejoice!
Game is brand new and into my collection!
The first time when I tried to remove the sticker I used a blow dryer to heat up the sticker. It is useless, the plastic will get flimsy. When you rub off the sticker, you will stretch the cover. In addition, I didn’t use a thick piece of paper behind. Therefore when you rub off the sticker, the cover will dig into the hole beneath it. It is hard to make it out from the picture.
Some trivia:
I got my PS3 for free
Unfortunately, I have to buy my own games.
Average cost per game costs $31 in my PS3 collection of 12 games. I am aiming for an average of $25. And it is a good list of games; I don’t have any games lower than 80 on metacritic, so far.
My most expensive game is LittleBigPlanet. Sigh, I jumped the gun on this game instead of waiting it out. I even traded in THREE games into EB, and it is still my most expensive game. But I did end up getting an Edge card for free. It is valid for 1 year and allows you to get 10% discount off used games. Used games FTW!
