I have been so unmotivated to do anything right now. I am just waiting for September.
Today I decided to start working on my last garage kit. I know ahead of time that I will definitely mess up the face. It is so small.
First up, I tried to fix my first garage kit. A lot of criticism came from the glossiness of the WHOLE figure. I kept it glossy because the original was glossy.
The only touch up that I can think of is to make the face and hair to matte. At least she doesn’t look like she has oily hair. In addition, it separates the black colour of the hair to the black colour of her clothes. Before, both hair and clothes colour was the same. Now it looks more distinguished.
To take the new shots, I took them in my backyard.
Since I was in my backyard, I took a shot of where it used to be grass before I bought a punching bag.
Speaking of backyard, I lol’d when I saw this comic from Family Circus. This is exactly how my family is when it comes to work.
Onto my Motoko garage kit. Started to prime the rest of my garage kit and sprayed paint the skin tone.
After this, I still need to fix my Osaka garage kit. It is still in pieces.
I haven’t opened my detolf case for a long time, so once I opened it up today, it was like a wave of PVC smell that hit me in the face. It IS summer, so heat does take a toll to the figures just as to humans. Ewww PVC sweat.

@GNdynames: Good luck! Have you practiced with your air brush?

4@trixoptics: I think I can handle it as long as I don’t get impatient. It went okay the first time I tried applying skintone but I decided to strip those and try again. I airbrushed my gundam, went all right, but the airbrush itself kept giving me problems. Several times I just pulled out the pin that controls paint flow and just let it spray on max.
BTW, do you have any future floor wax?

6@GNdynames: How did you strip off the skin tone? You just dump it into thinner? If you mean by spraying an over coat, then I don’t have future floor wax. I use Mr. Super Clear for spraying an over coat. I don’t know if it works the same.
@balance: Humm…I never heard of that method. I might just have to own a refrigerated display case

7@Trixoptics: Not even hobby thinner. I bought a jug of lacquer thinner from home depot and I use that. I stripped off everything, including the primer. I dunk it first, and then brush the stuff off with an old toothbrush, I find it more efficient that way.
The floor wax is pretty much a cheap super gloss finishing, i need it because my kit has some “panel lines” that needs painting. I tried using semi gloss top coat when doing that on my gundam and it ended in disaster.
