Max Factory – Haruhi Suzumiya Gekisou Ver.

Why Max Factory? Why!?!?! Why must you release another Haruhi figure?!?! Now I broke my rule of not buying more than one figure of the same character.  Regardless, I had to buy it because of its uniqueness compared to all of the other Haruhis released.  I bet everyone is sick of seeing this figure, but I don’t care and here it is!

I actually received this figure awhile ago, but never found the chance to take some pictures.

Like all owners have said, the box is stunningly nice as it is shiny.  I actually don’t want to take the figure out of the box.

Sometimes throughout this post I will mention about the “first Haruhi figure”, and this would be relating to the earlier Max Factory’s release of Haruhi.

Comparing to the first Max Factory Haruhi, this figure surpasses it in every way.   The production is close to flawless.   Unfortunately Enrius has some minor paint chips on the head.  Firstly, the painting is clean, even at smaller and more detailed areas.  This is not the same as the first Haruhi as there were noticeable flaws in the painting of the edges of her headband.  But this figure, all the painting looks spot on.

I like the use of both matte and glossy paints, especially the glossy look on her shoes.

Secondly, the sculpt of the figure is close to seamless. You won’t see seam lines from connecting hair strains.  The limbs look clean, and shows how great Max Factory set the quality control for this figure.

Thirdly, the facial expression is an improvement over the first Haruhi figure.  I won’t say it is a significant improvement, because when the first figure was released, it showed how great of an expression MF was able to recreate.  And, how can you make it even better?  Actually, they did! The Gekisou Ver. looks more livelier.  But, I think 90% (some random generated number) of my reasoning comes from the hair.

I won’t collect the rest of the gang as Haruhi is the only one that amazes me.  Luckily I didn’t buy Bubba’s resin kit of Haruhi because I actually perfer Max Factory’s over Bubba’s.   I still need Ryoko but can’t bring myself into buying her.

Update:  I forgot to point out a part that troubles me, which is her necklace that is painted on her.  In my opinion, that just ruins the figure.  They already included a cross, and why paint another necklace on her.
