Griffon – Sonsaku Hakufu

My second Griffon figure. After my disappointment from my first Griffon figure of Ryofu, will this figure of Sonsaku disappoint me again?

After watching Ikki Tousen Great Guardians, I needed a Sonsaku figure. It is pretty hard to find a nice figure with a good representation of her.  There are some nice ones of her with her old school looks from the first season. Since I wanted a figure of her, I wanted her with the new school look. Why buy the old looks now? However, there really aren’t any good new school version of Sonsaku. IMO, I think this one is the best so far.

She comes with a huge base which I won’t be using to display as it takes too much space.

I really prefer to have her in her school uniform. She seems kinda chubby for this figure compared to the anime.

Although this is a 1/6 scale figure, it is more of a 1/7 scale.

Even the towel has a rough texture to it.

Couple of points I did not like about this figure is the bottom. To make it stay in place, they flatten her leg. And her arm which grabs on to the bottom of her leg does not fit well as there is a gap. Obviously you would have to lift her over to see them.

Another point are her bangs. if you look at if upside down, there is a huge gap in between the bangs and the head.

Griffon has improved their production as this figure a lot better than Ryofu. The overall sculpt of the figure is well done. There aren’t any visible seam lines and everything looks clean.

The new school look with the hair style is so weird. In real life, it is pretty ugly with the bangs in the front mush together like a triangle.  I bet if you coloured Sonsaku’s hair brown and put glasses on her, then she will look like Ryuubi.

HEY LOOK! Its Ryuubi!!! LOL, don’t laugh at my amateur PS skills.

Yeah, I’m colourblind. PS version of Sonsaku hair is more orange than brown.

After taking some pictures, I still prefer the old school hair style of Sonsaku than the new one. I find that the old looks shows more “attitude”? I don’t know, I have mix feelings for both hair styles.
